Göteborg Soul Tram (Postcard)

Göteborg Soul Tram

An iconic feature of Gothenburg, the first tram line opened in 1879 — a horse-drawn tramway stretching from Brunnsparken to Stigbergsliden. Plans in the 1960s to convert to an underground network were abandoned due to the city’s clay soil, a reprieve that has proved a genuine urban asset as other European cities now scramble to reintroduce trams and reclaim their streets from the car.

So it is with pleasure, pride and relief that we give you not ‘Soul Train’ or ‘Soul Tube’ — but Göteborg Soul Tram.
