Göteborg Jazz — Limited Edition Print

Drawing inspiration from the bold typographic style of 1950s design, this print celebrates Göteborg's long and enduring love affair with Jazz. From New Orleans Jazz and the big band era through to Bop, the latest American recordings flowed into this port city where fans were eager to hear the latest transatlantic innovations. This influence was not lost on homegrown talent — musicians such as Jan Johansson, Lars Gullin and Monica Zetterlund developed a distinctly Swedish idiom, most notably Folk Jazz, heard on the groundbreaking Jazz på Svenska.

The Jazz illuminati who have played Göteborg is prodigious — from Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington to John Coltrane, Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk. Through current venues such as Unity Jazz Club, Utopia Jazz and the Gothenburg institution Nefertiti, this is an influence which continues very much to this day.
