A daughter of Gothenburg, Doris' fame has spread way beyond Swedish shores. Her sublime 'Did You Give The World Some Love Today Baby' LP has found a global audience, being sampled by the likes of Quasimto and Madvillian.

With original pressings now commanding a hefty price tag, the album actually sunk without trace on its 1970 release. Presumably not being pop enough for a more general audience, and not being credible enough for the increasingly political 'prog' audience, who may have still understood Doris as a 'Dolly Bird' popstar.

She wasn't. An accomplished musician and arranger, Doris represented a unique artist of the 1960's. A period when female performers were groomed to conform to passive and ornamental stereotypes of femininity, Doris was a musician who was central to both choosing and shaping the material she performed.

This design is taken from 1965, a period when Doris and her band Plums were a central feature in the Swedish 'Beat' scene. Regularly performing at Göteborg venues such as Cue Club, The Globe and Yaki Da, they played sets including American Rhythm & Blues and Soul covers, as well as original material
