Mad Shadows was the second album by Mott the Hoople. It was recorded in 1970 and released in the UK on Island Records in September 1970. It is often referred to as their darkest record, and after listening to Ian Hunter's haunting When My Mind's Gone, you will understand why. The album features a heavy rocker (Thunderbuck Ram), Psychedelic jams (Threads of Iron) and country rock (the Mick Ralphs-penned and sung It Would Be A Pleasure), plus more hard rock (Walking With a Mountain).
