This lp showcases Chet Baker's vocal abilities at their peak and on top of that his trumpet solos are also exquisite. Kenny Drew's piano work is a textbook example of how to support a vocalist, adding instrumental spice without obstructing the singer, on par with Teddy Wilson's work with Billie Holiday. Sam Jones and Philly Joe Jones function similarly, swinging solidly in support without disturbing the mood of each tune - they are replaced by George Morrow and Dannie Richmond on a few tracks without incident.
