It's 1979 and the Disco trend is in full swing. Every song on the radio features chants, funky basslines, percussive breakdowns and whistles. Some performers of this genre of music could either make the transition to the Post-Disco format and some could not. Thankfully, Payne did it, with an underground hit in 1982 entitled, "In Motion" on Sutra Records. Prior to that, her last outing was this, her Capitol swansong.
The Kansas City Star wrote that Payne moves "flawlessly through several sizzling disco tunes and a couple of enchanting ballads" on her last twentieth-century released album Hot.
