El Carretero (Vinyl LP)

Guillermo Portabales (1911-1970) was a unique performer of the Cuban guajira rhythm, whose influence and popularity has reached far beyond his native Cuba to North and South America and West Africa. His music had a significant influence on the artists who eventually came together as Buena Vista Social Club (a cover of one of his most famous songs El Carretero features on the multi-million selling Buena Vista Social Club album), as well as notable African artists Orchestra Baobab and Cheikh Lô. This collection of his classic 60s recordings was compiled by World Circuit for release in 1996. It has now been remastered specially for this first ever LP release.

Our Grading Standards
We grade all vinyl using the Goldmine standard:
Mint (M): Perfect, unplayed condition.
Near Mint (NM): Nearly perfect with minimal signs of handling.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Shows light signs of play but plays with minimal surface noise. The most common grade for collectable vinyl.
Very Good (VG): Noticeable marks and some surface noise, but still an enjoyable listen.
Good (G): Heavy wear — for collectors only.

All records are graded visually and by play. Media and sleeve are graded separately.
