This record deals with existentialism, spirituality, and the constant search for meaning in an uncertain world. It’s a natural next step for us in every sense, both musically and thematically.
Recorded at Studio Meltdown with Kenny Boufadene. Artwork by @spectralvisionsart.
"The debut album “The Seventh Seal” (2022) could easily have been a forgotten release from the era before the genre’s boundaries were fully defined (think Venom, Sodom, and early Bathory). Cornucopia themselves describe their music as thrash metal, and at times it sounds like the raw, dirty form of the genre from its earliest days.
Over the course of nearly four years, the band from Kungsbacka in western Sweden worked on this follow-up. It begins in a crushing and ferocious fast-thrash style, but then unexpectedly shifts into progressive passages, acoustic segments, and even some jazzy rhythms. This creates a depth that at times brings to mind icons such as Death, as well as newer Swedish bands like Stench. The fact that the longest tracks run over seven minutes gives an indication of what to expect—this is a complex album with many layers.
One highlight is “Transcending Stargaze,” whose direction hints at Annihilator. Another is the chaotic and distinctly Bathory-inspired “At the Stormkeeper’s Gate.” These are just a few examples from a very interesting release."
