There's seldom a need to use the phrase return to form if you never really drop off, but The Strokes found themselves in a different spot for 2011's Angles, ten years since their rapid ascent and equally sudden plateau.
A public re-assessment of sorts then, and one that found them in a rich vein of songwriting form - tantalisingly close to the level of Is This It. Highlights aplenty then - fan favourite "Machu Pichu" rubs shoulders with killer singles "Taken for A Fool" and "Under Cover of Darkness" but there's so much to love about this record it's almost churlish to pick out highlights.
